Los Cristianos is a town located in the municipality of Arona, on the island of Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. It is one of the main tourist centers of Tenerife and the Canary Islands. In July of 2018 it counts with a population of 21,605 inhabitants, with a greater population of its municipality (of 97,550 inhabitants), and of the south of the Canary Island. Together with the towns of Playa de Las Américas and Costa Adeje, they are part of the most important tourist conglomerate in the Canary Islands, where nearly 5 million visitors come every year. The first settlement of the population is the port of Los Cristianos, fundamental for the development of the fishing village. Currently the port of Los Cristianos occupies the first place in Spain2 in terms of passenger traffic, communicating through regular shipping lines the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma with this point on the island capital. It has four beaches; two of golden sand (Los Cristianos and Las Vistas), and two of Callao (Los Tarajales and El Callao).

Los Cristianos is a coastal and tourist town, formed by the population nuclei of Los Cristianos and Oasis del Sur, located on a plain between the elevations of Chayofita Mountain – a tourist destination – and Montaña de Guaza – protected natural space – . The municipal capital, Arona, is 9 kilometers to the north.
The town has the Perez Valero and Los Cristianos Early Childhood and Primary Education Centers, the Los Cristianos and Ichasagua Secondary Education Institutes, the San José municipal nursery school, several social centers; the Cultural Center of Los Cristianos, with the Infanta Leonor Auditorium, and the Municipal School of Music; several sports facilities, a Municipal Sailing School; an Official School of Languages and a Social Institute of the Navy; several shopping centers; the parish church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, as well as other Christian temples; parks, gardens, public squares, playgrounds, post offices, gas stations and shops.
Los Cristianos, close to another tourist area such as Playa de Las Américas, has experienced a strong urban expansion around its port and beach since the tourist boom. It has a great accommodation offer that includes apartments and hotels of all categories.
Part of the surface of Los Cristianos is included in the protected natural area of the Montaña de Guaza Natural Monument.
Los Cristianos Weather
Los Cristianos weather is a dry subtropical climate with little variation between one season and another. The average maximum temperature of the hottest month, August, is 29 ºC and the maximum temperature of the coldest month, January, 23 ºC, as well as the minimum average of both months 23 and 16 ºC, respectively. However, there may be adverse phenomena, such as a sharp rise in temperature due to winds of east and southwest origin that bring with it haze (dust in suspension from the Sahara desert); This is more common in the summer months but can occur at any time of the year. The temperature rarely exceeds 32 degrees Celsius.
Respect to Tenerife weather the weather in Los Cristianos is dryer than in the North of the island.
Beaches in Los Cristianos
In Los Cristianos there are two important beaches of the island of Tenerife: The main beach-beach of Los Cristianos-is a sandy beach sheltered by the port that has showers, water sports area, playground for children, services and changing rooms and good access The other one is Las Vistas beach with white sand protected by a breakwater that also has facilities similar to the previous one.
There are two other small beaches in the town: Los Tarajales and El Callao. The first is rocky and black sand where several hotels are located, such as Arona Gran Sur or Commodore Community, and where there is also a petanque court and a mini-golf. Callao is a lonely rocky cove with a small beach of black sand that is frequented by naturists and nudists.
